The main idea for you is to understand the path Jesus took to become son of God. He is the first of many. The key in understanding the whole picture is that God created this world and provided different type of guidance for the whole Universe. For material particles and all metter He established laws of nature. For living creatures He provides more advanced guidance - simple organisms got reflexes, other reflexes and instincts. Before humans appear mammals had coolest social guidance. Instincts control behavior through feelings and desires. Don't need for unreasonable creatures to understand. But for us He dedicated His own guidance - The Holy Spirit, but I call it Reason (or Holy Reason). The problem is that we still stuck with old guidance, designed for animals. How to get rid of animal nature and get Reason? Jesus told us that we are Temple and Spirit of God can live there. But you know, Temple is where animals are sacrificed, right? So, become like a lamb before God - redemption, honestly ask forgiveness, etc. Second birth happens when you notice present of the Holy Spirit (Reason). Don't be so excited. People stumble in this moment. Presence of God is so strong, that people think that their feelings is God. But it is not. It's only our reaction. Step over it. Seek for God Himself.
